About Me

·2 mins

Hi
#

I’m Arnoud. I’ve designed and built software systems for healthcare IT and other sectors, as software engineer, software architect, and now solution architect. I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t, and why context matters more than best practices.

What I Do
#

I design and build software solutions under real-world constraints: budgets and timelines, legacy systems, distributed teams, and ever shifting requirements.

My expertise spans cloud platforms, solution architectures and applied AI, as well as guiding teams during implementation. I’ve built systems that needed to scale, systems that needed to integrate with decades-old infrastructure, and systems where getting it wrong had real life consequences.

Currently, I am the solution architect of the navify Algorithm Suite, a cloud-based platform integrating certified medical algorithms into lab and hospital workflows. Bringing innovations into clinical routine so patients can benefit.

Why This Blog
#

Most architecture content is either too abstract (pure theory) or too specific (tutorials). I write about the messy middle where I feel most at home: the actual decisions, tradeoffs, and lessons learned from real world projects.

I share what I’ve learned so others can avoid the mistakes I’ve made and recognize patterns that actually work. If my writing helps anyone to make a single better decision, my goal is achieved.

What You’ll Find Here
#

  • Introductions to topics I spent years digging into, such as data privacy and cybersecurity
  • Honest assessments of what worked well and what didn’t
  • Architectural decisions and the tradeoffs behind them
  • Solution design patterns from real world implementations
  • Insights into software engineering, architecture and Healthcare IT
  • Learnings from applying AI in real world projects

Expect 1-2 articles every two weeks or so. I prefer quality over quantity.
